How does PicoPlus work?
This is a picosecond laser that delivers a greater amount of energy in a shorter period of time, allowing for:
- Greater mechanical effect on pigments to shatter them more effectively.
- A smaller heating or photothermal effect to reduce the side effects of the laser.
- Smaller energies to be used while achieving the same efficacy for enhanced safety.
It has a variety of handpieces with 4 wavelengths of light (532, 595, 660, 1064nm), 3 depths for resurfacing and also adjustable micro-beam spot size to allow for more flexibility and more thorough treatment.

PicoPlus Laser FAQ
The PicoPlus Laser is generally safer than the traditional Q-switched nanosecond laser. The risk of PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) is also reduced.
While some patients may experience redness, there will be no peeling or scabbing, and you will be provided with a soothing cream that will speed up recovery.
A good candidate for the PicoPlus laser is someone with pigmentation, redness or someone looking to rejuvenate their skin.
The treatment duration for PicoPlus Laser is about 15 minutes.
Patients may feel a mild prickling sensation during the treatment. There will be a cold air blower used during treatment to reduce any discomfort and skin redness. Rest assured that the discomfort is minimal and very tolerable.
There is minimal to no downtime for the PicoPlus laser depending on the skin condition being treated. For laser toning, your skin may be a little red after treatment, but with the application of a soothing cream, it will disappear within a few hours. For acne scar treatment, redness may last for 4-5 days, but as there is no compromise of the skin surface, makeup can be applied immediately after treatment.
You will likely need a minimum of 3-5 sessions with an interval of 3-4 weeks, but this also depends on the skin condition you are treating. Results may be visible after 2-3 weeks and continue to improve with the production of more collagen by the body.
