SKIN TONE & TEXTURE

Enlarged Pores & Dull Skin

Enlarged pores occur due to a variety of reasons. Some people inherit genes that give them large pores. Those with oily skin tend to have excessive sebum production which plugs up and expands pores. Aging, UV damage, and poor lifestyle habits (e.g., smoking) lead to collagen loss and dehydrated skin. This results in a lack of tissue support, which gives rise to enlarged pores.

The same factors causing enlarged pores also result in dull skin. Additionally, factors such as build-up of dead skin cells from lack of exfoliation, or uneven skin tone from hyperpigmentation can also make the skin appear dull.

Identifying the correct reasons for your skin condition is paramount to deciding on the right treatment approach. We have seen cases where pores and skin tone worsened because wrong treatments were carried out by inexperienced doctors- e.g., multiple resurfacing lasers were done which further dehydrated skin that was already dry, thereby worsening pores. This is a problem you will never face at Harmony Aesthetics because we consider all aspects – your skin type, expectations, pain tolerance, lifestyle, and budget – before recommending a treatment program most suited to your skin needs.

Medical Skincare

A customized skincare range will be prescribed to address the underlying issues resulting in your skin problems. E.g., products with oil control and skin renewal properties will be recommended if you suffer from oily skin. A broad-spectrum sunscreen should always be used to round off any skincare routine.

Oral-Medication

Oral Medications & Supplements

Oral medications may sometimes be needed to curb oil gland activity when other treatment methods prove insufficient. Oral Glutathione supplements lighten skin and reduce oxidative stress, which in turn slows down collagen degeneration. Oral sunblock supplements fortify the protective effects of physical sunscreens.

Laser

Lasers

The Spectra XT, PicoPlusClarity II, and Dual Yellow lasers help to clear pigmentation, improve oil control, and boost collagen production. Different lasers are suitable for different skin types. Talk to us to find out the most suitable treatment for you today!

Special Treatment

Sylfirm

This treatment evens out skin tone by lightening pigments and getting rid of unwanted redness. Its powerful dermal rejuvenation effects also result in tighter pores and firmer skin.

Injectables

Rejuran is an all-rounder treatment suitable for both dry and oily skin types. It restores skin balance by downregulating sebum production in oily skin, while increasing hydration levels in dry skin. It also improves pigmentation and minimizes pores. Skin Boosters and Profhilo work similarly, although they may not be suitable for oily, acne prone skin.

Medical Facials

Regular deep cleansing facials are a great adjunct to ensuring that your skin remains bright and smooth in between clinic treatment sessions. These facials help to clean out pores and clear the constant build-up of dead cells on the skin surface.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

The most common misconception about fine lines and wrinkles is that they are caused by dry skin. Although that may be true, it is certainly not the only reason. Sun damage, aging, and lifestyle factors (e.g., stress, poor sleep quality, smoking) all lead to collagen and elastin loss. As the support matter in skin tissue declines, fine lines begin to appear. These usually start off in areas where skin is thinner to begin with, and where more facial movements occur – around the eyes, mouth and on the forehead. Over time, continuous facial muscle movements further etch these lines into the skin, creating wrinkles.

Successful treatment often involves tackling the various causes of fine lines and wrinkles simultaneously. I.e., muscle movements should be minimized, dry skin if present needs to be hydrated, collagen levels need to be boosted. A multimodal approach is always encouraged to give an enhanced synergistic effect.

Medical Skincare

Medical grade ingredients in our skincare range focus on reducing collagen loss, boosting collagen production and improving skin hydration. Daily sunscreen application to reduce UV-induced collagen loss is always recommended to complement the functions of your skincare range.

Oral-Medication

Oral Supplements

Intake of Collagen Supplements provide your body with the building blocks it needs to produce new collagen and elastin fibres. Oral Sunblock supplements minimize UV damage, which helps to reduce water and collagen loss in the skin.

Laser

Lasers

The Spectra XT, PicoPlusClarity II, and Dual Yellow lasers all boost collagen production one way or another. The challenge is in finding a balance between improving collagen production and keeping the skin from drying out due to over-aggressive treatments.

Special Treatment

Sylfirm

Due to its potent dermal rejuvenation properties, Sylfirm is an excellent treatment for improving fine lines and wrinkles. An added bonus is its ability to produce results within a short span of a week, with minimal downtime and discomfort.

HIFU

Energy-based Devices

Ultrasound-based devices such as the Sofwav, Ultraformer and Ultherapy effectively deliver focused ultrasound energy to the deep dermal layer (1.5mm, 2mm and 3mm below the skin surface), tightening existing collagen fibres and stimulating new collagen formation. This results in firmer and smoother skin.

Injection

Injectables

With facial movements being the root cause of wrinkle formation, BTX injection is arguably the most essential out of all the available treatment modalities. While it is clearly indicated for dynamic movement lines, BTX can improve static lines as well.
