Trusculpt vs Sculpsure

Trusculpt vs Sculpsure

Here in Harmony, we believe beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. However, there might be few areas of our bodies where stubborn fats just refuse to disappear no matter how much we work out or control our food intake. Not keen for liposuction? Great news is that there are non-invasive ways to target those difficult fats, like :

  1. Sculpsure
  2. Trusculpt

What is Sculpsure?

Sculpsure is a laser-based, noninvasive treatment done to help target and banish specific fats in your body. Studies have shown that a single treatment can reduce fat up to an average of 24%. The laser that’s used in a SculpSure treatment causes a process that’s called apoptosis, which gently heats up fat cells and shrinks them so they can be expelled through the body’s lymphatic system as waste. For the procedure itself, it takes roughly around 25 minutes per session with little to no downtime. The recommended time to wait in between treatments is 6-8 weeks. Most patients require a series of treatments to achieve the results they desire. Many patients start to see results as early as six weeks following treatment. Optimal results are usually seen 12 weeks after a patient’s final treatment.

What is Trusculpt?

Trusculpt is a different body contouring technique which also uses heat to melt fat cells. Instead of laser, it uses a non-invasive radio frequency technology that delivers deep heating to adipose tissue for fat reduction and skin tightening. Most patients see an average of 24% fat reduction. Trusculpt is capable of reaching deeper fats and layers of the skin as opposed to Sculpsure. This procedure can be completed in as little as 15 minutes per session with no downtime as well. It is advised to wait at 4-8 weeks in between trusculpt treatments. Expect to start seeing results 6-8 weeks following Trusculpt treatment with maximum results at 12-16 weeks.

FAQ – Session duration, treatment process and downtime

What is the difference between Trusculpt and Sculpsure?

In general, both of these treatments use heat to destroy fat cells. Sculpsure utilizes laser based treatment. Each session takes about 25 minutes to complete. The percentage of fat reduction for Sculpsure reaches up to an average of 24%. This procedure however does not tighten loose skin and is not capable of reaching deeper layers of fat cells. Trusculpt on the other hand uses radiofrequency technology to selectively target fats and heat it until it is destroyed. The radiofrequency also treats skin laxity and texture, resulting in firmer and smoother skin. Besides that, Trusculpt is also able to reach deeper layers to target deep-seated fat cells and takes less time(15 minutes) per session, with a fat reduction of around 24% on average.

Is Trusculpt a painful procedure?

Trusculpt is not painful. It feels very much like a hot stone massage, what you will feel is heat. This treatment will initially be started off at a lower temperature to help get you accustomed to the heat sensation. One of our clinicians will be by your side throughout the 15 minutes procedure to ensure you feel at ease and adjust the temperature according to your comfort level.

Does Trusculpt work on double chins and thighs?

Yes, double chins can be treated through Trusculpt. The hand held applicators used in Trusculpt are small in size which can be effectively applied over smaller pockets of fat cells. We will first perform a thorough consultation and assessment of your double chin to check if the issue is more of skin laxity(loose skin) or excessive fat in that area and customise the treatment plan accordingly. The radiofrequency technology of Trusculpt tightens skin, which is a huge plus point compared to other fat reduction treatments. As for thighs, the answer is also yes! Trusculpt can be done on both the outer and inner thighs of all shapes and sizes, even areas with skin laxity. Other commonly treated areas include the abdomen, flanks (love handles), upper arms, back (bra fat) and submental fat (double chin). During the consultation, we will help you assess your problem areas to improve the overall shape, definition and contour of your body.

Is there downtime after every Trusculpt session and how long till results are achieved?

The wonderful thing about Trusculpt is that there is minimal to zero downtime. After a session, the treated area will be slightly warm and flushed for less than an hour. There won’t be any visible bruising or soreness. You will be able to return to your normal activity after the treatment. Do ensure to keep yourself well hydrated. The final results are seen after 12 weeks. Some patients tend to see results earlier especially combined with a healthy diet and exercise regime. Patients with loose skin (For example: women with post pregnancy bodies) may also obtain faster results due to the radio frequency technology tightening. Since there’s an average of 24% of fat reduction each time, additional treatments may be required to achieve your desired results depending on your body fat. In general, most of our patients require 2 sessions. If your subcutaneous fat is a lot, you might need 3 or more sessions to achieve satisfactory results.

Is Trusculpt result permanent?

Yes, fat cells removed via Trusculpt are permanently gone. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t gain weight in the future, because the fat cells that remain in your body are still capable of growing. Patients must be diligent to ensure their results last. It is crucial to maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise after getting your desired result. Maintenance is key to staying slim after your Trusculpt treatment.

Are maintenance sessions required after achieving the results desired?

Maintenance sessions are not required but it is extremely important to incorporate a healthy diet and exercise into your lifestyle. Not just to maintain the results achieved but also for your overall health. In the event of inevitable weight gain due to various reasons eg, post-pregnancy, the Trusculpt treatments can be repeated until you achieve the results you wish for.

Can I go for the Trusculpt procedure during my menses?

Yes, there are no issues in doing this treatment when you are having your menses. In fact, since it is very relaxing like a hot stone massage, some of our patients have commented that when the Trusculpt is done on the lower abdomen, it actually helps to relieve menstrual cramps.

Do we need to shave/remove body hair before the Trusculpt procedure?

This depends on the thickness of hair growth in the area you are looking to treat. For example, if there’s dense thick hair, it should be shaved prior to the treatment as the protective sticker applied on the applicator will get stuck onto the hair resulting in discomfort. Shaving will ensure good application of the sticker and adequate contact between the skin and the applicator being used for optimal results.
